Keltec Trailing Shoe
The Keltec Trailing Shoe is manufactured to the highest standards using precision engineering. This machine is fully galvanised to aid against corrosion. The quality of our products is the most important thing to us and the Keltec Trailing Shoe has been designed to last the test of time.
It is made up of a high strength frame carrying spring loaded legs which are fixed at 250mm (10”) spacings. There is a constant application of the slurry while turning around curves or spreading over uneven ground due to movement of the legs over the ground surface. The operation of the machine is relatively simple, the spring loaded legs are pressed into the ground which opens a slit in the ground. This allows slurry to be delivered to the soil surface via a rubber injection cone.
This achieves a uniform line of slurry on the soil surface, which reduces nitrogen losses by up to 75% compared with the original splash plate method.
Odour from the slurry is also significantly reduced, with the reduction in contamination of the plant leaves, the trailing shoe system can be incorporated into rotational grazing system, whereby slurry can be applied after each grazing without affecting future grazing performance. This dramatically decreases the period of time before normal grazing can resume in comparison to the spreading of slurry by a splash plate.
